From the M6
Leave the M6 motorway at Junction 36 and follow the A590 then
A591,signed for the South Lakes and Windermere. At the end
of the Kendal bypass there is a large roundabout. Take the first
turn off, onto the B5284, signed Hawkshead via the ferry, follow
this pleasant country road for about ten minutes. You will pass
the Wild Boar Inn, then Windermere Golf Club and descend a
long hill towards the lake. Fair Rigg is on your left just before
the T junction at the bottom
From Bowness At the mini roundabout at the bottom of Bowness turn down towards
the lake and then almost immediately turn left again, at the end of
the first parade of shops, onto Kendal Road. Continue for about
half a mile and you will see Fair Rigg on your left. (If you find that
you are driving along the lake front you have missed the turn off!
In this case continue until you see the sign off to the right for
the Hawkshead Ferry. Just past this turn left, up Longtail Hill, and
at the top looking slightly to your left you will see Fair Rigg).
